Breast cancer survivors share message at Greensboro fundraiser walk

It was a sea of pink and more than 500 people that took over Country Park in Greensboro for the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.

The American Cancer Society says this year’s donations well surpassed last year’s totals. The community helped raise more than $93,000, and ACS said the goal is about funding the future to prevent, treat and survive breast cancer.

“I just wanted to come out and make a difference like everyone has made for me,” survivor Gail Powell stated.

She is able to walk with her two daughters after spending the last year going through treatment. “Always have your mammograms, for one thing. Never put them off. Continue to go and question anything, you know your body more than anybody, don’t be afraid to reach out and talk. That person beside of you may need to hear that word of encouragement.”
