Ramírez’s blue hair is in support of autism awareness, as the Rays’ outfielder pays homage to his 5-year-old son.
Fresh off a game-clinching hit Tuesday night, Harold Ramírez would love to see some of his Tampa Bay Rays teammates with blue hair.
Ramírez’s hair already has a blue tint. It’s a change from the yellow hue in his hair before playing winter ball in Colombia last October. That’s when he decided to switch things up in honor of his 5-year-old son, Elian.
Blue is the color for autism awareness, and Ramírez is using his hair to bring attention to autism and spark discussions that can help educate more people about it and how Elian has made strides since his diagnosis more than three years ago.
So what does that have to do with his teammates’ hair? If all goes well, there will more than just the blue on Tampa Bay’s jerseys in the postseason.
