CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — “It’s probably a cliché, but it’s very, very true.”
That’s 40-year-old John Hoffman’s response when asked about his recent recovery and rebirth following a double-lung transplant.
“I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when I was two years old,” says Hoffman at his James Island home.
About three years ago, his health got to the point where he needed the transplant.
Less than two years after that, Hoffman was living out a new life and dream- tackling a high peak at the Yosemite National Park.
“With about a mile of elevation gain. So, 20 miles in length, over a mile in height,” Hoffman remembers. A total of 14 hours to trek to the top of the Half Dome Trail.Source: Charleston-area man reaches new heights after double-lung transplant cures 40-year ailment
