FOREST, Va. (WSET) — Thanks to the student body at Jefferson Forest High School, Anna Anderson and Zane Wales were crowned prom king and queen last weekend.
Teacher Heather Hevener says the moment showed just how much the two teens with Down syndrome mean to their classmates.
“They see these kids every day. They walk the same halls with these same kids, and they just feel like they’re part of them, so they wanted to make sure that they also really felt part of them.”
Both Anna and Zane are enjoying the perks of their new role with their sashes and crowns. Anna says her favorite part was the dancing, and Zane says his was getting the crown.
