Furnishing Hope of Massachusetts, Inc., a Cambridge-based nonprofit that provides furniture and home goods to families and individuals transitioning from homeless and domestic-violence shelters into stable housing, resides in a studio-like office in an Mt. Auburn Street building’s basement.

Dozens of plastic bags brimming with donated home goods from board games and kitchenware to blankets and linens line the foyer area and hallway. More donated items cover the entire floor in an ancillary room. Meanwhile, sheets, pillowcases, toiletries, ceramic plates, mugs, eating utensils, glassware, appliances among other house goods rest neatly on shelves, abutting a shared, tiny office space centered by a rectangular table.

It’s where Furnishing Home’s executive director, Suzy Palitz, and operation manager, Rosemary McCrudden, carry out the nonprofit’s mission  The pair vets clients, orchestrates furniture deliveries and connects with partner agencies.
