Williams-Sonoma to sell 9/11 firefighter’s ‘Shark Tank’ product, the CupBoardPro

It was one of the most heartbreaking segments in “Shark Tank” history.

Keith Young’s dream of selling his unique cutting board on “Shark Tank” was finally realized, after his death, when his three children appeared on the ABC show, pitched his CupBoardPro, and were instantly overwhelmed with more than $1 million in orders they had trouble fulfilling.

Now, Williams-Sonoma has come to the rescue. The San Francisco-based housewares retailer has contracted with Epicurean, a Wisconsin-based board manufacturer, to refine and mass-produce the product, which features a built-in, detachable bin to collect the food cut on it. And on Sunday’s episode of the ABC series (10 EDT/PDT) the family will announce plans to sell the product at Williams-Sonoma stores and through its website.

  1. It was a perfect combination of ingenious product, emotional story and entrepreneurial drive. So after the sharks invested in the company, with plans to donate profits to charity, John reached out to Williams-Sonoma to broker a licensing deal. He says the company was “ecstatic” at the opportunity, which “matches perfectly with their brand.”
