7th annual Jacob’s Run raises money for children’s hospital

WINTERVILLE, NC (WITN) – The 7th Annual Jacob’s Run is being held on September 16th in memory of Jacob Floars, who was killed in an auto accident at 17 years old back in 2000.

Jacob’s parents, Allen and Catherine Floars, started the fundraiser for the James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital shortly after their son was killed.

“I wasn’t really aware of all the things that they do, but they do so much for the children over there and I don’t think we could have picked a better place to donate money to,” said Allen Floars.

The family expects between 200 and 300 motorcycle riders this year. as motorcycle clubs come from all over Eastern Carolina to participate.

The run goes from the Hometown Harley Davidson in Winterville to Jacob’s gravesite in Fremont, NC and back again for a chili cookoff and family fun.

In the past 6 years, Jacob’s Run has raised nearly $85,000.
