We have allowed religion and politics to divide us, and many of those with or seeking power use these levers to further divide and conquer, making them stronger and “we the people” weaker.
It is up to us to reject those who divide us and embrace our common humanity as husbands and wives, sisters and brothers, friends and neighbors. Simply love people as they are, not how we want them to be. This might not eliminate pain and suffering, but it will let those going through difficult times know they are not alone, which will ultimately result in a stronger and better society.
