Cancer patients get help with treatment thanks to fire company’s fundraiser

The Franklinville Volunteer Fire Company launched a fundraising venture with the Virtua Foundation this week as a means of helping those in Gloucester County affected by cancer.

The Franklinville company was prompted by several cancer-related tragedies over the last two years, to look for a means of helping people access treatment for cancer in Gloucester County.

The company reached out to several health care providers over two months looking to connect the community to affordable oncology services, according to the fire company president, Rick Kurczeski.

“For me, it’s no surprise a bunch of fire fighters are running towards a problem,” said David Heck, director of philanthropy for Virtua.
