Students collect change for cancer research

For the next two weeks, students at Chariho Middle School will be collecting pennies and other spare change for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s national Pennies for Patients campaign. The campaign kick-off took place on Monday at a special assembly led by teachers Margaret Webster and Steve Cormier.

“This is our second year of holding this fundraiser,” Webster said. “Last year, we raised a little over $2,000.”

Cormier said the fundraiser would be something his students could work on during their advisory periods.
