Two years ago Omahan June Staples and her family decided to stop spending money on one another and instead give it to people who really needed it.
“I think that some of us, we really don’t need anything,” said Susan Nasif, June’s daughter, also of Omaha. “And we saw the need in the community, so we thought that’d be better.”
Each family member chooses a different charity. Staples has donated to Goodfellows both years.
She likes that all donations collected through Goodfellows go directly toward helping community members in need. No money is kept by The World-Herald for administrative expenses.
