Teen creates ‘Hatsgiving’ for cancer patients

A teen in Albany, New York has been collecting and donating hats to people who need them most.Thirteen-year-old Jeremy Wernick has been shaving his head since he was a third grader for cancer patients.

Once his hair came off, the teenager started to notice something.”I realized that your head gets pretty cold when you shave your head,” said Jeremy.

Three years ago, he asked people to donate unused hats for kids who lost their hair as a result of chemotherapy.

“In 2013, we got just over 200 hats. Last year, we got over 1500,” Jeremy said.Donations for Hatsgiving came in from all over, including sports teams like the Giants, Jets and Buffalo Sabres.
