Twenty-two years ago, the staff of Castleton Hill Moravian Preschool was stunned to learn that a child at the school had cancer.
Cyndi Zulch was diagnosed when she was 4 years old. She underwent intense chemotherapy and radiation before she lost her fight to the disease.Cyndi’s favorite holiday was Halloween, so every year since her death, the Castleton Corners school has been raising funds in her name to help fight pediatric cancer.
This year, the school decided to raise funds in honor of Cyndi for the Kids Against Cancer Pediatric Cancer Treatment Center project underway at Staten Island University Hospital-Northwell Health, Ocean Breeze. The school asked families to help raise funds for this project. Aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends and co-workers made pledges. Matching gifts were also encouraged.
