About 600 people marched in Winnipeg Sunday in support of women living with ovarian cancer.
The 13th annual Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope was held at Kcancildonan Park Sunday morning.
Cecelia Derworiz was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2010 and said she is still putting up a fight.
“I’m strong, I’m here 5½ years later,” Derworiz said, adding she would like to see more awareness of the disease.
“I’d like to see the same thing with what breast cancer has. Breast cancer has a huge support group and I’d like to see our … ovarian cancer group have the same amount of support.”
The event last year raised $115,000. Proceeds from the event this year are expected to help support women and families affected by ovarian cancer.
