An Australian amputee riding his bike 10,000km from Vietnam to Sydney has arrived in Perth ahead of his final journey.
Vietnam veteran Laurie “Truck” Sams is on a six-month “long ride home”, raising money for veteran suicide and PTSD.
A PTSD sufferer himself, Truck hopes to inspire others to seek help.
“I’ve been down that dark tunnel and the experience made me want to help others who’ve had to deal with trauma-related injury – not just soldiers but police, firies, ambos, nurses and other emergency workers as well,” he said.
Riding through the jungles and fields of Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, the 66-year-old has covered 5830km in 73 days.
All while cycling with a prosthetic leg.
