A determined group of fifth-grade girls are on a mission to stop cancer.
The girls said when their friend died a year ago in June, they were driven to do something.
“We thought, “We shouldn’t just be sitting here feeling grief. We should do something,’ and so that’s how Cancel Out Cancer started,” Sara said.
The 501(c)(3) foundation has already raised nearly $2,000.
“We have donated to families that have lost family members and we’ve donated to charities, like the Pediatric Cancer Foundation,” Sara said.
Not only did they create the foundation, but each girl has a specific responsibility to keep the group running.
