Over the weekend, the Eastman family of Marshalltown set up a lemonade stand in their front yard, drawing in passersby and motorists with glasses of lemonade and homemade chocolate chip cookies and white chocolate chip bars, selling for 50 cents each. In honor of their late great-grandfather, the kids are giving the money raised to the House of Compassion.
“My grandpa was a long-time volunteer, and I have been, too, and I want to teach the kids that not everyone is fortunate enough to have everything they need,” said their mother, Angie Eastman.
The children, from left, Quinn, 8, Emerson, 8, and Layken, 9, serve a customer.
