Woman to swim Lake Monona for metastatic breast cancer awareness, research

A woman will swim in Lake Monona as part of a “triathlon” across the country to raise awareness for metastatic breast cancer.

Mary Gooze has the terminal form of cancer, and she’ll be swimming more than two miles in Lake Monona at 11 on Tuesday. At that same time, her counterpart in California will climb a mountain, and a teammate in another state will run.

It’s all to support metastatic breast cancer research, which typically gets less money for research than other types of breast cancer.
