More than a dozen families in central Illinois who suffered damage due to winter flooding along the Sangamon River have gotten help from a charity group.
The (Springfield) State Journal-Register reports (http://bit.ly/1Z3gK6j ) that 16 families from Kincaid in Christian County qualified for new furniture through a Society of St. Vincent De Paul and Midland Ministry Association program. Floodwaters and heavy rains over the winter damaged about 44 homes and destroyed 18 homes in Kincaid
The new furniture includes 41 dressers, 32 beds, 16 dining room tables and nine sofas. The furniture is valued at about $40,000.
Michelle Stone’s family received some of the furniture. She says she’s grateful because she couldn’t afford to replace all of her furniture
