Charity donates car to mother fighting brain tumor

A single mother of two who is battling a brain tumor received a much needed car Friday, courtesy of a local children’s charity.

“I was overwhelmed,” saidTerri Torres. “I didn’t know how to process it.”

Representatives from the San Diego charity Passion 4 Kids handedTorres the keys to a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta.

“It’s in impeccable condition,” said Torres. “That gives us so much more freedom now.”

Last February, Torres had her freedom taken away when her car was stolen.

“So we’ve been without since,” said Torres. “It’s been very difficult.”

Terri is fighting for her life, so the added challenge made everything even more difficult.

“I have meningioma in the brain,” said Torres.

For the last 18 years, Torres has been fighting her slow-growing, non-cancerous brain tumor.  In the past year, it’s been growing.
